Partner: UNICEF

Year of Implementation: 2009

In collaboration with the UNICEF under the context of improving the lives of the children, Etijah shed the light on the problem of urbanization in Egypt which had huge negative consequences on the management of water quality.

Finding effective strategies was the main goal either from the Government or NGOs, where both partners decided to conduct a project to enhance the water quality in 4 villages in Luxor and Gharbiya governorates. Etijah was responsible for:

• Raising public awareness on domestic solid waste management, household waste water management and treatment, and agricultural waste management.
• Doing a “Sillage” (sort of livestock’s food) from the rice straw that cause lots of environmental problems.
• Cooperating with UNICEF to establish 4 water purifying stations.
