Etijah, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and UNFPA, implemented the Safe Spaces project at youth centers in Al Sharqiya governorate. The project’s main objective was to empower and support Syrian and Egyptian women and girls, with a focus on women’s essential role in the community.
The Safe Spaces enabled participants to address multiple challenges, including gender-based violence. Activities included self-defense techniques, group therapy, theater workshops, storytelling workshops, vocational training, and recreational sessions. One flagship activity was the theater show We Are Here, featuring Syrian and Egyptian actors and staged in multiple governorates to raise awareness about gender-based violence.
