Etijah, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the UNFPA, implemented Safe Spaces project at youth centers located in Al Sharqiya governorate. The main objective of the project is to empower and support Syrian and Egyptian women and girls, by focusing on female’s essential role in the community.
The Safe Spaces enable women participants to overcome the multiple challenges including gender-based violence. Several activities shed light on gender-based violence such as: self-defense techniques, group therapy, theater workshops, storytelling workshops, vocational training, and recreational activities.
One of the Safe Spaces activities is a theater show called We are Here, with Syrians and Egyptians being the main actors. It is played in different governorates to raise awareness about gender based violence.
