Launched in January 2023, Fatma Amer Scholarship for Girls’ Education is a transformative project designed to support young women in their pursuit of higher education across Egypt. Funded by Fatma Amer and implemented by Etijah in collaboration with the Dr. Fatma Amer Educational Foundation, the project addresses financial barriers that often prevent female students from continuing their university education.
The scholarship targets female students enrolled in public universities and governmental institutes throughout Egypt. It offers financial grants that cover a wide range of essential expenses, including tuition fees, accommodation, transportation, and study materials. These grants are crucial in supporting students who face economic hardship, enabling them to focus on their academic goals without the burden of financial strain.
Etijah manages a rigorous selection process for the scholarship, beginning with awareness campaigns on social media to ensure broad outreach. Applicants are evaluated based primarily on financial need, with priority given to those from disadvantaged and marginalized backgrounds. This approach ensures the project reaches those most at risk of educational exclusion.
Since its launch, the Fatma Amer Scholarship project has demonstrated significant growth and tangible impact. In its first three months, it supported 35 students. By March 2024, the number of beneficiaries increased to 46, and by March 2025, the scholarship is providing support to 81 female students across the country. This growth reflects the project’s effectiveness and its expanding role in promoting educational equity.
Through sustained financial support, Fatma Amer Scholarship for Girls’ Education is not only advancing individual academic success but also contributing to broader social development. By empowering young women through education, the project supports long-term positive change in communities across Egypt.
Etijah remains committed to expanding this impactful project, reaffirming the belief that investing in girls’ education is key to building a more just, inclusive, and prosperous society.
