About Etijah

 

Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specializing in developing, improving, and disseminating development methodologies in youth and community development.

Based in Cairo, Etijah’s primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development, and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute to building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organisations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Project Officer will be responsible for the following:

  • Coordinate with CBOs supported by Etijah to implement climate-focused solid waste management initiatives.
  • Provide technical, financial, and capacity-building support to partner CBOs to ensure successful implementation of funded activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of CBO-led projects to ensure alignment with overall project goals and performance indicators.
  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of project activities according to the work plan and donor requirements.
  • Facilitate community engagement and stakeholder consultations to promote environmental awareness and behavioral change around solid waste management.
  • Prepare high-quality, timely reports detailing project progress, achievements, and challenges for internal use and donor submission.
  • Manage project resources in compliance with Etijah and donor regulations and ensure cost-effective delivery of outputs.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of project strategies, work plans, and technical documents in collaboration with the broader project team.
  • Maintain regular communication and provide updates to the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of global and local best practices, tools, and innovations in climate change adaptation and environmental management, especially solid waste management, to enhance project impact.

 

 

Required Qualifications and Expertise

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management, with a focus on environmental management, solid waste management, or climate change adaptation.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting and monitoring CBOs or grassroots organizations, including familiarity with fund disbursement and compliance processes is desirable.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, NGOs, government entities, and donors.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and results-oriented delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and travel to field sites as needed.
