About Etijah
Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specializing in developing, improving, and disseminating development methodologies in youth and community development.
Based in Cairo, Etijah’s primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development, and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute to building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to the project’s team to achieve the project’s targets.
- Provide day to day management support to the team
- Planning and Implementation
- Ensure timely and effective implementation of project according to approved project outlines and approved monthly activity and budget plans.
- Facilitate effective mobilization of program participants to effectively engage in the different components of the project.
- Manage funds allocated to Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), including tracking disbursements, overseeing expenditures, and ensuring alignment with financial guidelines and project objectives.
- Review financial and narrative reports from CBOs to verify accuracy and compliance with deliverables.
- Conduct regular communication with CBOs, providing guidance and resolving operational challenges through site visits and progress reviews.
- Defines, updates and shares clear project work plans, tracks progress and articulates changes in project activities clearly and in timely manner.
- Understands the project management cycle and utilizes tools (including detailed implementation plans) effectively to implement and achieve project’s results.
- Achieves project results, and monitors appropriate benchmarks, targets and performance indicators in collaboration with the MERL Department.
- Produce well-documented, accurate, and quality narrative reports as per the donor’s standards and guidelines with a focus on quality visual materials, including pictures, videos and success stories.
- Support the generation, documentation and dissemination of evidence on the benefits and lessons learned through the project’s M&E Framework
- Ensure the delivery of the project to meet the standards of GESI, while applying the project gender marker at all stages of the project.
- Monitor the progress of project implementation and undertake corrective actions.
- Lead the start-up meetings for the new project to guarantee a joint understanding among stakeholders on project objectives and expectations.
- Coordinate with team members to effectively support the project to carry out all assessments including baseline, ongoing monitoring, evaluations, dissemination of promising practices etc.in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
- Identify and manage project’s risks.
- Promote compliance with Etijah and the donor’s requirements and regulations throughout project’s implementation
- Report possible project’s risks to respective team members in a timely and transparent manner.
- Successfully and efficiently lead the implementation of the project activities under the supervision of the head of Programs to achieve project goal and feed into the organization strategic objectives. Contribute to the achievement of the program goal. improving Etijah’s internal workflow and process.
- Plan, manage and closely monitor the implementation of project plan to ensure timely and accurate reporting for projects achievements /challenges to Head of Programs and the project’s donor.
- Identify, create, manage and maintain productive partnership and networking with different stakeholders in the local and national level to maximize the impact of project effort in local and national level.
- Check data and conduct field visit to ensure accuracy of data and to guarantee project implementation is on track according to annual and donor plans.
- Capture best practices and lessons learned to enhance the project’s knowledge base and provide MEAL officer with required materials.
- Effectively manage and monitor project/s budget/s to ensure spending rates are within the safe range according to approved budget in light of Etijah and the donor’s policy and procedures.
- Collaborate with program support units to ensure smooth project operations and aligning all the process and procedures with Etijah’s and the donor’s polices.
- Support the Head of Programs in initiating and maintaining strategic and diverse relationships & networking with stakeholders to ensure that the project and Etijah remain a partner of choice.
- Timely and perfectly meets Etijah and the donor’s reporting requirements with high quality and accuracy level.
- Present Etijah Working Group meetings/event and provide updates/information on the Project and coordinate with the project staff accordingly
Networking
- Coordinate field and partners’ efforts to create effective synergies that contribute to maximizing the project impact.
- Effectively network with other partners implementing similar programs in project locations to stay up to date and inform project members of relevant developments and possible synergies.
- Budget management and asset management
- Set up of budget in the systems in collaboration with Finance team
- Manage, track, update and coordinate the implementation of project’s plans and budgets.
- Managed and monitor the expenditures to ensure efficient budget management and adherence to approved budget and donor compliance
- Ensure that Etijah’s respective assets are being managed properly and are well-utilized.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, Business Administration, Economics, or relevant fields. Master’s degree is preferred; along with relevant and quality work experience (>5) years in sustainability, climate action or other similar projects in the Egyptian Context. Previous work experience in NGOs is an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of work experience and demonstrated skills in coordinating, training, facilitating and capacity building of organisational staff, partners and community members and/or community-based organisations.
- Experience with budget monitoring, procurement and narrative reporting of projects in English
- Excellent command of English and Arabic is a must;
- Demonstrated Experience in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
