About Etijah

 

Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specialized in developing, improving and disseminating development methodologies in the field of youth and community development. Based in Cairo. Etijah primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute in building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing them with practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.

 

 

Background

 

In response to the escalating humanitarian crisis over the past decade, exacerbated by the Syrian crisis in 2017, Etijah has been committed to establish Safe Spaces for GBV Survivors Funded by UNFPA and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. These spaces offer a comprehensive package of support, including mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), legal aid, protection services, and medical care for GBV survivors. Beneficiaries encompass refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, and members of host communities.

 

 

Consultancy Objectives

  • To improve the mental and emotional well-being of safe space beneficiaries through the provision of MHPSS services.
  • To equip beneficiaries with coping mechanisms and skills to manage the psychological effects of GBV.
  • To promote a safe and supportive environment for healing and empowerment.
  • To raise awareness about GBV and available support services within the target communities.

 

 

Consultant Responsibilities

 

  1. Conduct group MHPSS sessions using a variety of approaches tailored to the specific needs of beneficiaries, such as:
    Trauma-informed care principles
    Individual and group counseling techniques
    Art therapy

    Yoga for mental health
    Psychodrama
    Dance therapy
    Self-care strategies
    Story telling
    Clown therapy
    Expressive art therapy
  2. Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan to track the progress of beneficiaries and the overall effectiveness of the MHPSS program.
  3. Ensure confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions with beneficiaries.
  4. Collaborate effectively with safe space staff to ensure a holistic approach to supporting beneficiaries.
  5. Contribute to the development and implementation of advocacy strategies to address GBV within the target communities.
  6. Prepare regular reports on activities, progress, and challenges encountered

 

 

Qualification and Experiences

 

• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with GBV survivors.
• Demonstrated experience in providing MHPSS services, including group counseling.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
• Experience working with refugee, asylum seeker, and immigrant communities is preferred.
• Commitment to gender equality and social justice.

 

 

Key Deliverables

 

1-Conducting Safe Space Sessions:

Delivering high-quality MHPSS sessions in a safe and confidential environment.
Using appropriate and culturally sensitive therapeutic approaches.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of participants throughout the sessions.

2-Contributing to Therapy Plan Development:

Conducting thorough assessments of individual needs and vulnerabilities.
Participating in the development of individualized therapy plans.
Providing ongoing support and guidance to individuals throughout their therapy journey.

3-Reporting and Documentation:

Maintaining accurate and timely records of all sessions and interventions.
Preparing regular reports on the progress of individuals and the overall program.
Sharing relevant information with other stakeholders as needed.

 

 

Payment Terms

 

Payment Frequency: The consultant accepted for this position will be paid one time per month.
Payment Basis: The amount paid each month will be determined by the number of sessions successfully conducted during that month.
