About Etijah:
Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specializing in developing, improving, and disseminating development methodologies in youth and community development.
Based in Cairo, Etijah’s primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development, and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute to building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.
Project Background:
Etijah is implementing the Bedayat Livelihoods Programme to support refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable host-community members in Greater Cairo to access sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Etijah’s Economic Empowerment Department seeks to contract a qualified service provider to design and deliver One-Day Social Cohesion event targeting 250 refugees and Egyptians residing in Greater Cairo.
The program aims to promote social cohesion and strengthen positive relationships between refugees and Egyptian host communities by creating an inclusive space for meaningful interaction, cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and collaboration, through participatory activities, cultural sharing, team-building exercises, and dialogue, the event will encourage participants to celebrate diversity, challenge stereotypes, build trust, and foster a stronger sense of belonging between refugees and Egyptians.
As part of the project’s efforts to strengthen social cohesion and promote positive relationships between refugees and host communities, a one-day social cohesion event will be organized to create an inclusive space for cultural exchange, cooperation, mutual understanding, and celebration of diversity.
The event will bring together refugees, and Egyptians from the host community through interactive cultural, artistic, and team-based activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
The overall purpose of the event is to promote social cohesion and positive interaction among refugees and host community members by creating an inclusive space for cultural exchange, cooperation, mutual understanding, and celebration of diversity.
The event aims to:
- Promote interaction and communication between refugees and Egyptians.
- Create a safe and inclusive space for participants to learn about different cultures.
- Promote values of respect, cooperation, equality, inclusion, and acceptance of differences.
- Build positive social connections and networks between participants from diverse backgrounds.
Expected Deliverables
- Detailed Event Plan and Agenda
A comprehensive event plan outlining the objectives, target participants, methodology, activities, timeline, roles and responsibilities, and logistical arrangements. - Implementation of the One-Day Social Cohesion Event
Delivery of the event according to the approved agenda, including cultural exchange, interactive group activities, dialogue sessions, team-building exercises, and recreational activities that promote interaction and mutual understanding. - Cultural Exchange Activities
Facilitation of activities that allow participants to share and celebrate their cultures, traditions, food, music, stories, and experiences in a respectful and inclusive environment. - Facilitated Dialogue and Awareness Session
Interactive discussions addressing diversity, inclusion, peaceful coexistence, positive community relationships, and the importance of reducing stereotypes and misconceptions. - Documentation of the Event
Compilation of attendance records, activity documentation, photographs (with appropriate consent), participant feedback, and key observations and outcomes. - Participant Feedback and Evaluation
Administration of a simple post-event feedback/evaluation tool to assess participants’ satisfaction, level of engagement, perceived changes in attitudes, and key learning or takeaways. - Event Completion Report
Submission of a concise report summarizing the event implementation, number and profile of participants, activities conducted, achievements, challenges, lessons learned, participant feedback, and recommendations for future social cohesion activities.
Facilitation Approach
The event will be implemented through an inclusive and participatory approach that encourages participants to interact beyond nationality and community group.
Facilitators will ensure that:
- Participants have equal opportunities to participate.
- Activities encourage cooperation rather than competition between communities.
- Discussions remain respectful and constructive.
- Participants feel safe to share their experiences and perspectives.
- Activities promote respect, equality, inclusion, and acceptance of differences.
Expected Results
Through the implementation of the one-day event, 250 refugees and host-community members will have an opportunity to interact through cultural exchange, collaborative activities, art, and peace-focused reflection.
The event will contribute to creating positive social connections, increasing interaction between people from different backgrounds, and promoting values of peaceful coexistence, inclusion, respect, and diversity.
Job Fair Component
As part of the “Together in Diversity” Social Cohesion Event, a dedicated Job Fair component will be organized to connect refugee and Egyptian participants with potential employers and employment opportunities.
The Job Fair will provide a practical platform for participants to interact directly with employers, learn about available vacancies, submit their CVs, and explore employment opportunities across different sectors.
Key Activities
The Job Fair component will include:
- Identification and mobilization of relevant employers from different sectors.
- Establishment of employer information and recruitment booths.
- Registration of participating job seekers.
- Direct interaction between participants and employers.
- Presentation of available job vacancies and employment opportunities.
- CV submission.
- Short interviews interviews with interested candidates.
- Information sharing on workplace expectations and employment opportunities.
- Networking between employers and refugee and Egyptian job seekers.
Employer Participation
Employers will be encouraged to provide information on:
- Available job vacancies.
- Job descriptions and required qualifications.
- Working conditions and employment arrangements.
- Recruitment procedures.
- Required documents and application procedures.
Employers will be encouraged to apply inclusive and non-discriminatory recruitment practices and assess candidates based on their qualifications, skills, and suitability for available positions.
Job Seeker Engagement
Participating job seekers will have the opportunity to:
- Visit employer booths.
- Learn about available vacancies.
- Present their CVs and professional profiles.
- Discuss employment opportunities directly with employers.
- Build professional networks.
- Receive information on next steps in the recruitment process.
Job Fair Deliverables
The Job Fair component will generate the following deliverables:
- List of participating employers.
- List of available job vacancies and employment opportunities.
- Employer booth.
- Number of CVs submitted and employer interactions documented.
- List of candidates referred or shortlisted for further recruitment.
- Documentation of employer participation and networking activities.
- Job Fair section included in the final event report.
Safeguarding and Protection Considerations
The event will be implemented in line with relevant organizational safeguarding and protection policies.
Particular attention will be given to:
- Safe and inclusive participation.
- Prevention of discrimination, harassment, exploitation, and abuse.
- Respect for participants’ privacy and dignity.
- Appropriate consent for photography and documentation.
- Safe facilitation of discussions around stereotypes and misconceptions.
Monitoring and Documentation
Document the implementation of the event through:
- Participant registration and attendance sheets.
- Participant feedback and evaluation.
- Documentation of peace/coexistence messages.
- Documentation of the collective artwork.
- Photographs and other event documentation, subject to appropriate consent.
Materials and Logistics
The event will require materials and logistical arrangements including:
- Registration materials and name badges.
- Flipcharts, markers, sticky notes, and stationery.
- Art materials for collective artwork.
- Cultural display materials.
- Sound system and microphone.
- Photography/documentation materials.
- Banners/backdrop with the event title and International Day of Peace branding.

For Organizations
- Registered legal entity in Egypt.
- Capacity to deliver high-quality events and reporting.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and gender-sensitive programming.
Technical Proposal Requirements
The technical proposal must include:
- Organizational or consultant profile.
- Relevant experience and previous similar assignments.
- Proposed methodology and implementation approach.
- Detailed workplan and timeline.
Financial Proposal Requirements
The financial proposal must include:
- Detailed budget breakdown.
- Cost per participant.
- Trainers and facilitation fees.
- Training material and logistical costs.
- Any additional operational costs.
All costs must be submitted in EGP and inclusive of all applicable taxes.
