About Etijah
Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specialized in developing, improving and disseminating development methodologies in the field of youth and community development. Based in Cairo. Etijah primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute in building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing them with practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.
Project Background:
Youth Empowerment and Raising Awareness for Population Issues (PACs) program was established in 2015 in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS). The program is funded by UNFPA and aims to contribute to Egypt’s 2030 sustainable development goals through tackling population issues.
Acknowledging that the youth are the highest segment in the Egyptian population, and the primary driver to a better future, the program targets the youth by means of raising their awareness about sexual and reproductive health. Through the partnership with the MoYS, the program has a wide reach to youth from all over Egypt. It operates in all 27 gov specifically in YCs (Youth Centers) reaching 432 YCs nationwide.
The program offers different types of awareness sessions that take place in youth clubs. There are interactive sessions, sports sessions, film sessions, singing sessions, and interactive theater sessions. Developing different techniques has given the program an edge and enabled it to reach countless numbers of beneficiaries and have a positive impact on many people’s lives. In its 10th year of operation, the program aims to expand more, reaching more vulnerable groups who do not have access to such knowledge, and to combat harmful practices as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and implementation:
- Manage project field activities in the project targeted governorates.
- Manage and supervise field coordinators working in project targeted governorates.
- Develop activity plan in reference to project budget.
- Manage, request, and settle activities’ expenses as per project budget.
- Ensure implementation of cost optimization activities.
- Create and maintain open and fluid communication with the theatrical and musical teams of volunteers based in different governorates.
- Supervise, review, and edit the outcome scripts of each theatrical team.
- Prepare accurate technical and financial reports per activity.
2. Project Operations:
- Execute the project as per the project plan.
- Develop forms and records to document project activities.
- Set up files to ensure that all project information and communications is appropriately documented.
- Monitor and supervise the field coordinators monthly tasks to ensure the successful completion of the project’s field activities.
- Coordinate with Business Development department to execute the social media coverage of the activities.
- Contribute to organizing major events.
3. Reporting and M&E requirements:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and per activity reports.
- Review and edit the field coordinators’ monthly and per activity reports.
- Manage and organize the project’s files and documents.
- Participate in preparing the final report.
4. Networking
- Coordinate field and partners’ efforts to create effective synergies that contribute to maximizing the project impact.
- Effectively network with other partners implementing similar programs in project locations to stay up to date and inform project members of relevant developments and possible synergies.
- Budget management and asset management
- Set up of budget in the systems in collaboration with Finance team
- Manage, track, update and coordinate the implementation of project’s plans and budgets.
- Managed and monitor the expenditures to ensure efficient budget management and adherence to approved budget and donor compliance
- Ensure that Etijah’s respective assets are being managed properly and are well-utilized.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, Business Administration, Economics, or relevant fields. Master’s degree is preferred; along with relevant and quality work experience in management of projects, art projects, edutainment projects , theatre projects or other similar projects in the Egyptian Context.
- Experience in projects interacting with international donors/UN agencies.
- Previous work experience in NGOs is a must.
- A minimum of 7 years of work experience (managerial level) and demonstrated skills in coordinating, training, facilitating and capacity building of organisational staff, partners and community members and/or community-based organisations.
- Experience with budget monitoring, procurement and narrative reporting of projects in English
- Excellent command of English and Arabic is a must;
- Demonstrated Experience in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Working Conditions
The Edutainment Project Manager works in Head office location but sometimes in accordance to the delivery of the project may work in non-standard workplaces in or out Cairo.
The Edutainment Project Manager works on standard work week but may be required to work some weekends to meet implementation requirements.
