About Etijah
Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specializing in developing, improving, and disseminating development methodologies in youth and community development.
Based in Cairo, Etijah’s primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development, and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute to building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.
Program Background
Etijah’s Economic Empowerment Department operates as a dynamic force dedicated to creating enduring positive impact across Egypt. The department strategically focuses on enhancing livelihoods, fostering entrepreneurship, developing employability skills and facilitating social integration through innovative and inclusive programs.
At its core, the department aims to uplift refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and host communities by addressing immediate needs and fostering long-term resilience. Through initiatives that encompass skills development, vocational training, and employment generation, Etijah equips individuals with the tools necessary for sustainable and dignified livelihoods. Simultaneously, by promoting entrepreneurship and creating spaces for diverse communities to converge, the department not only stimulates economic growth but also nurtures a sense of inclusivity, contributing to the development of a vibrant and interconnected social fabric in Egypt.
Duties and Responsibilities
o Organize and lead enterprise development and employability project activities vis-à-vis the project’s results and overall goals;
o Support Etijah’s community-based outreach strategy efforts, through designing targeted local outreach plans and messages, and properly coordinating with local actors to expand Etijah’s outreach capacities in its operational areas
o Ensure proper analysis of strategic challenges and the provision of suitable strategies to mitigate and/or address them;
o Develop detailed project activity work plans aligning them with the donor requirements, ensuring proper compliance, alignment with the project budget, resources, and in coordination with the relevant thematic specialists and MEAL Unit.
o Manage the project staff, ensuring proper management of team dynamics, task plans, alignment with Etijah’s SOPs, developing staff talent and capacities, and conduct performance appraisals to direct reports. Conduct regular meetings with the project staff to ensure effective communication and collaboration;
o Oversee project field implementation plans, through designing resource, assessment, and risk plans for field implementation activities for the project team to follow.
o Coordinate and liaise with Etijah’s partners throughout the project’s target governorates, including Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and local organizations, to enhance project outreach and impact.
o Support the establishment of key partnerships with governmental, developmental and private sector entities to support Etijah’s economic empowerment program strategies
o Act as a thematic specialist in enterprise development and employability interventions to support different economic empowerment team with advisory opinions on activity design and implementation, based on expertise and subject-matter knowledge
o Leading taskforces for the design, organization, and preparation of major events and ceremonies.
o Follow proper Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning processes through designing the project’s documentation system, preparing periodical reports and IPTTs, coordinating project evaluation activities, and ensuring proper compliance with donor MEAL procedures.

Job Requirments
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Economics, or relevant social science fields. Having a Master’s degree is an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in Livelihoods, Enterprise development, employability or other similar projects in the Egyptian Context. Previous work experience with NGOs is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in staff management and budget management
- Previous demonstrated experience with refugees, migrants and/or asylum seekers is an advantage
- Having previous experience with supervision and team leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Able to professionally and confidently communicate with national and international organizations;
- Excellent command of English and Arabic is a must;
- Demonstrated Experience in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
