Based in Cairo, Etijah’s primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development, and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute to building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.

Program Background

The “Sports for Social Change” program aims to enhance the involvement of women and girls in sports while promoting equal access for individuals with disabilities to public spaces. This program is funded by the GIZ under the Equal Opportunities and Social Development (EOSD) program with the primary goal of creating an inclusive and safe environment that encourages sports participation. Etijah will be supervising the program as an umbrella organization for 3 different local organizations and will be empowering them with technical, financial, and capacity-building support in order to directly work with their local communities and implement sports activities. The program is implemented in over 10 local communities across three main governorates: Greater Cairo, Sohag, and Qena.

Mission Objective

The main objective of this program is to provide a comprehensive curriculum that can be a guiding document for sports facilitators when implementing the program. The curriculum must utilize inclusive sports as a mean to facilitate access for young women and people with disabilities to equal opportunities and engage youth and local communities in promoting the inclusion of Women and Girls, therefore creating networks of change at the grassroots level. The end-goal of the curriculum is to promote gender equality, active participation of youth, and the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.
