Background

The Women-Friendly Space (WFS) provides specialized services to women and girls, including GBV case management, psychosocial support, information and helpline services, and prevention activities. Staff working in the WFS operate in a demanding frontline humanitarian environment and are regularly exposed to complex cases, emotional distress, high workloads, urgent protection concerns, and challenging interactions with beneficiaries and the surrounding community.

In light of the demanding nature of the work and the importance of maintaining staff wellbeing, resilience, and professional functioning, Etijah intends to organize structured staff wellbeing and psychosocial support sessions for WFS staff.

The sessions will provide staff with a safe, confidential, and supportive environment to strengthen coping mechanisms, promote peer support, and develop practical strategies for maintaining emotional wellbeing while continuing to provide quality services to beneficiaries.

Objective of the Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to provide professional staff wellbeing and psychosocial support sessions to WFS staff, with a focus on stress management, emotional wellbeing, resilience, self-care, peer support, and coping with the challenges associated with frontline humanitarian work.

The intervention is intended to be preventive and supportive in nature and will not replace individual clinical psychological or psychiatric services where these may be required.

The sessions aim to achieve the following specific objectives:

  • Provide staff with a safe and confidential space to reflect on work-related pressures and challenges.
  • Support staff in identifying and managing stress, emotional exhaustion, and compassion fatigue.
  • Strengthen practical coping mechanisms and self-care strategies.
  • Promote healthy boundaries between professional responsibilities and personal wellbeing.
  • Strengthen peer support and positive team dynamics.

  • Promote awareness of available support mechanisms and appropriate referral pathways when additional professional support is required.
  • Contribute to a healthier and more supportive working environment within the WFS.
