The Employability Programme in the Hospitality Sector is a two-year project aimed at providing a blend of soft skills training followed by practical training in key areas of hospitality for youth from disadvantaged communities in Greater Cairo and Hurghada. The project focuses on creating over 300 job opportunities across four essential hospitality aspects: kitchen, housekeeping, food and beverage (F&B), and stewardship. The Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah implements this project in partnership with the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, with a goal to empower youth and integrate them into the hospitality industry.
As part of this project, a recent orientation session was held at Le Meridien Cairo Airport (LMCA) for Cohort 9 graduates of the soft-skills training project. The session included members of the recruitment teams from LMCA and JW Marriott who connected with the participants on a professional level. The JW Marriott recruitment team conducted casual interviews with some participants, and by the end of the session, three participants, Remon Shehata, Farha Mohamed Hasan, and Esraa Ashraf Shehata Abdelaziz, were invited to a second interview with the head of housekeeping. Following their second interview, all three received job offers and are now in the process of signing full time work contracts and beginning their careers in the hospitality sector.
This achievement occurred even before the practical training phase, underscoring the effectiveness of the project, the dedication of the participants, and the success of the selection criteria established by the project executors from Etijah. The success of these three individuals represents a significant milestone for Cohort 9 and aligns with the project’s objective of securing employment for youth within the hospitality sector.
Etijah in partnership with the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance continues to create valuable employment opportunities for young people, contributing to the development of a more inclusive workforce.
