This project mobilized drama-makers and legislators to work together on proposed legislation that would protect creative freedom while regulating tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship in Egyptian drama and TV series. Its primary objective was to advocate to policymakers and legislators to introduce measures that would limit tobacco depiction and commercial promotion within the audiovisual sector.
As part of the effort, a Media Charter of Honor was signed between the Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction and the Media Syndicate in the presence of then–Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, the Minister of Social Solidarity, and Dr. Ghada Waly, Head of the Fund. By the close of the project, new legislation had been proposed to parliament to regulate smoking scenes in drama.
