About Etijah

Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specialized in developing, improving and disseminating development methodologies in the field of youth and community development. Based in Cairo.

Etijah primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how and aptitudes, as well as contribute in building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing them with practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.

 

 

Background

Tomooh program aims to provide a comprehensive platform for economic empowerment targeting disadvantaged youth through strengthening their entrepreneurial and employability capacities necessary to have a sustainable access to a decent job and income. Tomooh Phase 3 comes as following to build on the implementation of two phases, which started in 2018 and was successfully completed in January 2021, despite the challenges caused by the socioeconomic and cultural barriers facing youth and the emerging COVID-19 pandemic. The project’s phase 3 aims  to promote the active participation of targeted 1,449 youth in the labor market through developing the necessary soft essential skills of 990 beneficiaries youth to be sustainably employed while proving the necessary guidance to 459 beneficiaries of early stage entrepreneurs to create and establish their own startups and businesses. Tomooh responds to the structural problem of youth unemployment which has become a pressing issue on Egyptian youth who constitute 21 percent of the overall population.

TOMOOH” aims to increase youth economic empowerment and to combat youth unemployment in Egypt. And its specific objective is to decrease the gap between workforce and job market. The program has two components: Employability and Entrepreneurship.

Job Purpose

The project-base job role is to participate in planning, executing, and following up with the different planned project activities under the Entrepreneurship component. The Entrepreneurship Project Coordinator is accountable to achieve project deliverables ensuring Etijah’s technical and financial regulations are met. The Project Coordinator will work to develop the capacity of the targeted youth in order to be ready to start or improve their Businesses.

This TOR Scope is relevant to the entrepreneurship component, which supports self-employability by its pre-incubation program which is a unique incubation model that support early-stage entrepreneurs who have strong technical experience in their sectors and do have a need to develop their business abilities to start their businesses. Tomooh’ s unique approach does not only focus on developing the technical skills of the startups but also the founder’s transferable and soft skills to be able to conduct their business activities successfully. Through providing online business skills training, coaching sessions, mentorship program, shared working space, discounted services, networking events, and seed funding.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and implementation:
    • Develop activities’ work plan in reference to proposal, budget and log frame;
    • Manage the project field activities across targeted governorates;
    • Develop a resources plan in reference to the project’s budget;
    • Manage, request and settle activities’ expenses as per project budget;
    • Ensure implementation of cost optimization activities;
    • Plan and implement the outreach efforts to the targeted local communities.
  • Managing the implementation of the Entrepreneurship Trainings:
    • Coordinating and Organizing the different capacity building programs on advanced business topics to be able to develop and establish their businesses.
    • Managing the logistics and financial planning and implementation of the training programmes;
    • Support the participants with Coaching and in developing their Business Plans.

 

  • Contribute to creating partnerships with Entrepreneurship Relevant stakeholders:
    • Create and Maintain open and fluid communication with Private Sector companies;
    • Coordinate Partnership efforts and conduct strategies to strengthen these relationships with the private sector and relevant stakeholders;
    • Prepare regular reports and communication packages for Partners;

 

  • Project Operations:
    • Set up files to ensure that all project information and communications is appropriately documented;
    • Execute the project as per the project plan;
    • Develop forms and records to document project activities;
    • Coordinate with Business Development department to execute the social media coverage of the activities;
    • Responsible of major events organizing.
  • Reporting and M&E requirements:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly and per activity reports;
    • Review and edit the field coordinators’ monthly and per activity reports;
    • Manage and organize the project’s files and documents;
    • Participate in preparing the final project’s report.

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Experience in Entrepreneurship projects or with Pre-incubation programs in the Egyptian Context.
  • Bachelor degree in Social Studies, Economic Development, Business Administration, Economics or relevant fields;
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in relevant field or holding similar responsibilities;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to call, connect, and interact with potential partners and donors;
  • Persuasive and goal-oriented;
  • Able to professionally and confidently communicate with national and international organizations;
  • Excellent analytical and time-management skills and commitment to meeting deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team;
  • Excellent command of English and Arabic is a must;
  • Previous experience in similar projects /contexts.

 

 

Working Conditions

  • The Project Coordinator will perform his duties in Etijah’s head office but will be required to travel within Cairo Governorate based on work requirements;
  • The Project Coordinator works on standard work week but may be required to work some weekends to meet implementation requirements.
  • The duration of the contract is based on the execution period of project activities, the opportunity of extend the contract is according to the performance assessment and the availability of the job.
