About Etijah
Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specializing in developing, improving, and disseminating development methodologies in youth and community development.
Based in Cairo, Etijah’s primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development, and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute to building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.
Program Background
Etijah’s Economic Empowerment Department operates as a dynamic force dedicated to creating enduring positive impact across Egypt. The department strategically focuses on enhancing livelihoods, fostering entrepreneurship, developing employability skills and facilitating social integration through innovative and inclusive programs.
At its core, the department aims to uplift refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and host communities by addressing immediate needs and fostering long-term resilience. Through initiatives that encompass skills development, vocational training, and employment generation, Etijah equips individuals with the tools necessary for sustainable and dignified livelihoods. Simultaneously, by promoting entrepreneurship and creating spaces for diverse communities to converge, the department not only stimulates economic growth but also nurtures a sense of inclusivity, contributing to the development of a vibrant and interconnected social fabric in Egypt.
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning and Implementation
- Design project activities vis-à-vis the project’s results and overall goals
- Develop activities’ work plan in reference to the proposal, budget, and log frame;
- Manage field staff in project action areas;
- Develop a resources plan in reference to the project’s budget;
- Design and implement the outreach efforts to the targeted local communities.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and local organizations, to enhance program outreach and impact;
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels with key partners;
- Establish key partnerships with developmental and private sector entities to support Etijah’s economic empowerment program strategies.
Project Operations
- Oversee project documentation and filing systems;
- Oversee the implementation of the project activities as per the work plans;
- Develop forms and records to document project activities;
- Monitor the project staff’s tasks to ensure the successful completion of the project’s field activities;
- Organizing and leading task forces for major events.
Team Management:
- Supervise and provide guidance to project staff;
- Conduct regular meetings with the project staff to ensure effective communication and collaboration;
- Develop staff learning and development plans to ensure constant development;
- Manage team performance, provide feedback, and address challenges as they arise.
Reporting and M&E requirements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and per-activity reports;
- Review and edit the project staff’s monthly and per-activity reports;
- Coordinate with Etijah’s MEAL unit the project’s activities, work plans and programs.
Job Requirments
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Economics, or relevant fields;
- A minimum of 5 years of work experience in Livelihoods, self-employment, entrepreneurship or other similar projects in the Egyptian Context
- Previous demonstrated experience with refugees, migrants and/or asylum seekers is an advantage
- Having previous experience with supervision and team leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Able to professionally and confidently communicate with national and international organizations;
- Excellent command of English and Arabic is a must;
