Implementation year: October 2015 – March 2016
In an attempt to capitalize on human and community assets gained during the first phase of the project “Youth Citizenship Ambassadors’ Group”, Etijah, in collaboration with UN Women, is announcing the launch of second phase to the project.
The first phase aimed at raising awareness of 7500 marginalized women and young girls about the importance of possessing national ID cards in ten governorates towards more inclusion of women in society. This was achieved through training a group of 150 young community leaders from the ten governorates on tools and techniques to design, plan and implement community initiatives and awareness campaigns targeting final beneficiaries from women. The ten governorates are: Alexandria, Beheira, Portsaid, Ismailia, Menia, Assuit, Aswan, Souhag, Qena and Red Sea.
During the second phase, it is planned to enhance the skills gained by young leaders; they will be trained on doing actual community study on women lacking ID cards, and main obstacles women Face to be empowered, resources management, as well as advanced communication and leadership skills; this combined with assisting National Council of Women in issuing national ID cards for women at their local communities.
