Partner: Education Reform Project (ERP)

Year of Implementation: 2008

Etijah provided technical assistance to the Education Reform Project in El-Marg district in 40 schools. The technical assistance provided by Etijah was represented in two aspects:

The first aspect is strategic planning workshops which aimed to raise the planning skills of the participants from 40 schools. Participants from each school were: the school principle, the training unit director, and representatives of the board of trustee of the school. The workshops were designed based on an initial “needs assessment” study conducted with participants from all the schools. This unique strategic planning program is considered the first of its kind to be implemented in the education institutes in Egypt.

The second aspect involved Etijah’s team focusing on forming and training youth cadres to assist in health and education activities. The activities included: reducing rates of school dropouts and illiteracy among community members, besides conducting health awareness campaigns on specific health topics in the community. Cadres of young people also received a comprehensive training on studying community assets and needs, mapping local assets, and utilizing assets to fulfill the community needs.
